Although Hillol started his career as a theatre artiste, he has extended his talent to TV plays. In a recent conversation, the actor spoke to The Daily Star about his humming professional life.
What was your first TV play?
Hillol: I debuted with director Giasuddin Selim's series, “Biprotip”. As I had only performed on stage until then, I was a little nervous when I stood in front of the camera for my TV debut.
Tell us about your first stage play.
Hillol: It was called “Dorpone Soshi”. I joined theatre troupe Desh Natok in 1995 and worked with them for about nine years. It was with them that I learnt the nuances of acting on stage.
How did acting become your profession?
Hillol: I'm an accidental actor; I had no plans to enter the profession when I was young. A friend of mine literally dragged me along to Desh Natok. Now I enjoy acting a great deal; more so, the love I've been flooded with from my viewers.
What do you consider the turning point in your acting career?
Hillol: My TV debut was life-changing. But the real turning point in my life was when I appeared in the acclaimed drama serial “Sporsher Bairey” in 2004.
Qualities do you think an actor should have…
Hillol: Firstly, an actor has to be honest and hard-working. The actor must love acting, respect senior artistes and be very committed to the profession.
What's your favourite season?
Hillol: I love heavy rain, so it would be monsoon. Childhood memories of getting drenched are some of my most treasured recollections.
Tell us about your foray onto the big screen.
Hillol: I have acted in “Chorabali”. I'm now shooting another movie “Hello Amit”. I want to be a regular on the silver screen, particularly in off-beat films.

অধিকাংশ নাটকই একঘেঁয়ে: হিল্লোল

হালের টেলিভিশন নাটক নিয়ে রীতিমতো বিরক্ত অভিনেতা আদনান ফারুক হিল্লোল। তার অভিযোগ বর্তমান সময়ের ব্যস্ত পরিচালকরা ‘যুগোপযোগী’ নাটক বানাতে পারছেন না।
গ্লিটজের সঙ্গে এক আলাপচারিতায় হিল্লোল আরও বলেন, “অধিকাংশ নাট্যকাররা বরাবরের মতো প্রেম-ভালোবাসা ও পারিবারিক অশান্তি নিয়েই গল্প লিখছেন। তারা নাটক নিয়ে কোনো পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা করছেন না। একই ধাঁচের নাটক দেখতে দেখতে দর্শকও আগ্রহ হারিয়ে ফেলেছে। নাট্যকার, পরিচালক কেউ ভিন্ন কিছু নিয়ে দর্শককে বিনোদন দিতে পারছেন না।”
তবে নবীন নাট্যকারদের নিয়ে আশাবাদী হিল্লোল।
“নবীনদের মধ্যে ক’জন সত্যিই দারুণ কাজ করছে। তারা গল্প নিয়ে খেলছে, অভিনয়ের ধারাও বদলে দিচ্ছে। তাদের পরীক্ষামূলক নাটকগুলো সত্যিই প্রশংসার দাবিদার। তরুণ প্রজন্ম কিন্তু এমন নাটকই দেখতে চায়।”
ঈদ উপলক্ষে আটটি নাটক ও দুটি টেলিফিল্মে অভিনয় করছেন হিল্লোল।
নাজনীন হাসান চুমকীর পরিচালনায় ‘প্রেম নাকি ভালোবাসা’ টেলিফিল্মে তিনি জুটি বেঁধেছেন স্ত্রী নওশীনের সঙ্গে। প্রেমের একাল-সেকাল নিয়ে নির্মিত এ টেলিফিল্মে হিল্লোল, নওশীন নব্বইয়ের দশকের প্রেমকে ফুটিয়ে তুলবেন।
এর আগে ‘বিশেষ’ নাটক ছাড়া নওশীনের সঙ্গে অভিনয় করবেন না এমন ঘোষণা দিয়েছিলেন তিনি। এ প্রসঙ্গে হিল্লোল বলেন, “নওশীনের সঙ্গে অভিনয় করতে কেমন অস্বস্তি লাগে। ওর সঙ্গে অনেক নাটক করেছি। কোন দৃশ্যে আমরা কেমন-কেমন অভিব্যক্তি দেখাব, তা দুজনেই জানি। এমনটা চাই না বলে আমরা একসঙ্গে নিয়মিত কাজ করব না বলেছি।”
হিল্লোল এখন ‘ক্ষণিকালয়’ এবং ‘থ্রি কমরেডস’ নামে দুটি ধারাবাহিকে অভিনয় করছেন।
ধারাবাহিক প্রসঙ্গে তার মন্তব্য, “আমি গল্প ও চরিত্রে ভিন্নতা না পেলে ধারাবাহিকে অভিনয় করি না। একই ধাঁচের চরিত্রে অভিনয় করে দর্শকের বিরক্তির কারণ হতে চাই না।”
হিল্লোল ও নওশীন জুটির নাটকগুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে ‘বড় ভালোবাসি তোমায়’, ‘কোনো এক রাতের গল্প’, ‘হৃদয়ের একূল ওকূল’, ‘অনুকরণ’, ‘এইতো তুমি কাছে’, ‘ ছায়াবৃত্ত’, ‘রিতির জন্য’, ‘উড়ু মেঘে ভালোবাসা’ ইত্যাদি।
